Zimbabwe has recorded a 33 percent increase in sweet potato production for the 2023/2024 season, reaching an estimated 276,784 tons. This growth is a significant rise from the 207,529 tons produced in the previous season.
The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development attributes this increase to the implementation of a virus-free sweet potato vine distribution program, part of the Rural Development 8.0 initiative. The ministry shared these details via a post on X, highlighting the strategic efforts to boost agricultural output in the country.
