Moldova achieved significant success in the export of fruits from the 2023 harvest, setting records in certain categories. Cherries, plums and grapes from Moldova reached the European Union market in unprecedented quantities. Moldovan manufacturers are not being complacent about the successes achieved last year and are working hard to improve fruit quality, implement quality standards and invest in post-harvest infrastructure. As a new season approaches, they invest in advanced fruit sorting equipment, internal defect detection systems, automatic packing lines, modern harvesting and packing machines to meet market demands. These investments demonstrate a commitment to setting new standards for fruit quality and sustainability.
Iurie Fala, Executive Director of the Moldova Fruit Association, a key organization representing fruit producers and exporters in the country emphasizes the sector's commitment to continuous improvement: "Our focus on quality and the implementation of quality and safety standards is crucial for meeting market requirements. The geography of Moldovan fruit exports looks totally different, compared to 3-4 years ago, but this is largely due to the implementation of GlobalGAP, GRASP, SMETA and more recently IFS and the alignment of market requirements."
To further promote Moldova's fruit sector and stimulate new business partnerships, buyers and industry stakeholders are invited to visit "Moldova taste makes the difference" at Hall 15, Stand 35, at the upcoming Freskon exhibition. This event offers visitors an excellent opportunity to meet cherry and other stone fruit producers from Moldova, explore potential avenues of collaboration and learn about developments that position Moldova as a strong competitor in the fruit export market.
The Freskon exhibition is a platform to highlight Moldova's commitment to quality, innovation and sustainable practices in fruit production, inviting attendees to explore the distinctive value that Moldova brings to the global market.
