Turkestan plans to harvest one thousand tons of greenhouse bananas

Shortly, the first harvest of bananas is set to be collected at the greenhouse complex of TOO Gen Group Kazakhstan in Kainarbulak, Sayram District, Turkestan Region. Bananas are being cultivated on an area of 5.3 hectares as reported by the Regional Communications Service.

According to the owner of the cooperative, Islam Aliev, the first harvest is expected within 1–2 months. Last year, 7,400 banana seedlings were planted in greenhouses using Turkish technologies.

Currently, the complex, which plans to produce up to 1,000 tons of bananas per year, employs 150 people. The produce will be sold on the domestic market of Kazakhstan.

In addition to bananas, the Sayram District cultivates other exotic fruits such as lemons and dates.
