The Sant'Orsola cooperative will take part in the 14th edition of the International Symposium Rubus and Ribes. Chairman Silvio Bertoldi announced that, in July 2027, the event gathering 200 scientific researchers will take place at the cooperative headquarters in Pergine Valsugana (Trento).
This is the first time that ISHS (the International society for horticultural sciences) entrusts a private company with the leading scientific event in the sector, as previous editions were exclusively organized by universities. In 2023, it was held at the Oregon and Washington State Universities in the US. For Sant'Orsola, this is an important recognition of its R&D activities, which have been carried out for two decades leading to the production of patented berries known on a global level.
This year, the cooperative will also present the definitive results of the study started in 2023 to offer partners a set of options and solutions containing not just scientific data, but also cost analyses for new systems, techniques and introduction procedures.
The study aims at countering the significant negative effects caused by climate change, which can affect production cycles. In order to adapt to and not passively suffer its consequences, the company has started carrying out research and analyses focusing especially on northern Italy to identify new systems suitable to deal with periods of drought, strong winds and high and increasing temperatures.
