Kazakhstan's vegetable imports surged by 29% in the first months of 2024

In the initial two months of 2024, Kazakhstan witnessed a significant surge in vegetable imports, marking a 29% increase compared to the same period last year, totalling 64,100 tons.

Over 40% of these imports comprised cabbage varieties (including white cabbage, Brussels sprouts, etc.), totalling 25,800 tons, indicating a notable increase of 2.3 times.

Additionally, there was a notable influx of aubergines, zucchinis, and pumpkins amounting to 10,600 tons (+23.5%), tomatoes 10,000 tons (+10%), carrots, beets, and radishes 7,900 tons (+20.6%), cucumbers 6,100 tons (+1.5 times), onions and garlic 2,400 tons (+1.7 times).

However, lettuce imports experienced a decline of almost 30%, amounting to 750.4 tons.
