Cocaine found in banana crates in at least four locations in Germany

In Berlin, employees at several discount stores, including Lidl, discovered crates stacked with cocaine hidden within banana packing cases. This incident prompted a significant police response, with armed officers guarding the affected stores.

Cocaine stashes were confirmed in at least four locations, with police swarming Lidl branches in Schönefeld and Marienfelde. A Lidl spokesperson stated, "We cannot provide any information about ongoing proceedings. Lidl in Germany is in contact with the relevant authorities regarding the incident."

Reports suggest the amount of cocaine found ranged between 20 and 100kgs per supermarket. The Berlin police were alerted to the presence of the narcotics around midday, with the drugs now secured by Brandenburg police. Investigations are being coordinated by the Joint Drug Investigation Group at the Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office, in collaboration with Berlin police and the Berlin-Brandenburg customs investigation office.
