Dongshan Baiyu Loquat, cultivated in Suzhou, China, is set to debut on May 12th. This season, marked by favorable weather conditions and expanded cultivation areas, promises an exceptional yield and superior quality.
"This year stands out as a milestone, boasting the highest output in three decades, with nearly a 50% increase compared to previous years," remarked Mr. Rao Zhenhua, representing the Wuzhong District Dongshan Furao Zhenhua Agricultural Products Business Department, renowned for its expertise in cultivating and distributing Baiyu loquats.
"Despite this year's challenges, such as excessive rainfall and cold spells, the microclimate of the Dongshan region has shielded the loquats from adverse effects. Additionally, meticulous farming practices, including fruit thinning to preserve tree health and fruit quality, have contributed to larger-sized fruits and an abundant harvest."
Addressing market projections, Rao acknowledged the potential pressure of increased supply but emphasized the robust sales channels and loyal customer base for Baiyu loquats. In previous years, demand often outstripped supply due to production constraints, whereas this year's ample harvest is expected to satisfy market needs. "Producers in the cultivation regions have the opportunity to utilize e-commerce live broadcasts for both showcasing and retailing their products directly. Conversely, numerous e-commerce platforms routinely visit these regions to procure goods during the peak season. Historically, limited output constrained purchase volumes. However, with this year's substantial increase in production, it's anticipated that supply will adequately meet demand."
"Anticipating a bumper crop, we've proactively engaged customers, resulting in a twofold increase in current orders compared to last year."
Baiyu loquat, esteemed for its exquisite flavor despite its premium pricing, occupies a niche in the fruit market. Rao predicts a corresponding price adjustment with increased production this year, though specifics remain pending.
One notable challenge this season has been the shortage of local labor, necessitating the recruitment of workers from neighboring regions to meet the demands of escalated production and order volumes.
Rao's company specializes in Dongshan Baiyu loquat, alongside bayberry and Biluochun tea, distributing through various channels including Pagoda and online platforms, with a thriving dropshipping business.
