Egbert Nillesen if Abracad Technoworks bv:
"All the technology and software for composing salads"
Abracad Techno Works in the Dutch town of Nijnsel is an engineering company that focuses mainly on the food industry. The company, established in 1997, also specializes in engineering and providing customer-oriented advice. "Our range of machines mainly consists of internal transport and processing systems," says owner Egbert Nillesen.
"We are pretty much open to everything," says Egbert. "If someone comes to us with a drawing or a design, we look at it in earnest. Our engineering department translates it into a 2D or 3D package. But most of our customers are in the food sector. We design and manufacture machines for the processing of fish, meat, fruit and vegetables, even candy. Our specialization is the packaging of products. At the time this activity takes up about 85% of our market. In short, we provide the technology, equipment and software to compile and package the salads and dishes that you see in the store."

“We are seen as a market leader. Take our apple processor. We currently supply it to a fruit company in the US. For this customer, and this is characteristic of North America, two things are crucial: the processing speed and the accuracy. In the US, where food companies need to cover a huge area, everything always has to go faster. The apple slice machine has a capacity of 2 times 205 bags per minute. But perhaps even more important is the precision. Our machine always puts exactly the same number of bags in a box, no more no less. The machines they had before were significantly less accurate, which resulted in regular error messages. In this sector, you cannot afford that kind of sloppiness. Especially in the US you’ll end up getting liability claims. The machines that they have now are running for 16 hours a day, without errors."
About 35% of Abracad’s activities takes place in the fruit and vegetable sector. "Especially in the US, there is still a lot to be achieved in the field of automation," he says. "We find that they are still a little behind there, when it comes to packing and processing. They tend to overfill a unit, damaging produce in the process. We want to convince them that things can be different. But there is definitely progress!”
Abracad are an exclusive member of the Dutch Food Group which consists of four companies: FTNON, Perfotec, BrimaPack & Abracad
The benefit of this group is that they can offer clients worldwide a "One stop shop from field to table".
