Organic apples and pears from Argentina
European apples season is coming to an end, with only a few apples of last year left in the refrigerated warehouses. Fresh fruits are desired now for example those from the sunny Argentina. In the last 15 years a big economy for organically grown apples and pears has developed in the region around the Patagonian Río Negro River. The organically grown apples and pears are sold worldwide. The sustainably managed farms, and new jobs are the positive aspects of globalization. BioTropic has partnered with some of the best suppliers. These family businesses farm on a grand scale to biological pears, apples and other fruits such as plums. The pear varieties Packham, D'Anjou and Abate Fetel are currently available. The varieties Williams and Giffard are two of the first harvested varieties of the season and are already sold out.
The apple variety Royal Gala, firm, red and sweet, is available now. Soon to be followed by Braeburn apples, which have complex sweet and tart flavour and Cripps Pink, which are sweet with slightly sour undertones.
