Almost 40 tonnes of apples and plums returned to Moldova

A batch of 19.68 tonnes of fresh apples produced in Moldova and shipped through Belarus was stopped at the checkpoint in Dolosţî, in the Russian Pskov region.

According to Infotag, import inspectors did this due to a mismatch between the date in the phytosanitary certificate for re-export from Belarus and the phytosanitary certificate of the country of origin.

Inspectors at the checkpoint in the town of Lobok also stopped a batch of 19.5 tonnes of plums from Moldova, also as a result of inconsistencies in the necessary documents.

Both batches were consequently returned to the exporter.

It is worth noting that Russia imposed a ban on the import of Moldovan fruits and vegetables last summer due to alleged violations of the Russian legislation on consumer protection rights and to lack of adherence to the Russian market's required standards.
