The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Purple Garlic Pedroñeras (Purple Garlic of The Pedroñeras) has Predicted a good campaign in terms of volume and product quality based on various aspects,: such as the next harvest, the marketing and the product's good price levels at origin.
In this sense, the marketing of purple garlic has been good in recent months; the product in storage has been sold swiftly and stocks are expected to be at a minimum ahead of the new harvest.
While anticipating a good season, the PGI will strengthen its investment in marketing and promotion with a series of advertising campaigns to be carried out in the months of May and June, and which will be organised in the framework of Toledo holding the title of Gastronomic Capital in 2016.
Other activities will include presentations in markets in the city of Madrid and in capitals of the Cantabrian coast, as well as a National Cooking Contest in July sponsored by Purple Garlic of Las Pedroñeras.
The association Ajo Morado de las Pedroñeras is currently formed by 17 companies devoted to the production and marketing of garlic, nine of which are officially certified to market purple garlic from Las Pedroñeras.
