The German minister of Economics Christian Schmidt stated: "Within the organic agriculture the number of companies and the area is stable. The market is also growing, in 2015 the organic market in Germany reached a turnover of over eight billion Euro, in which the tendency is strongly rising. These figures show that organic is increasingly popular among consumers, the organic agriculture is an important pillar within the German agricultural and food economy, besides conventional agriculture. My goal is to help organic agriculture in Germany move forward. For this reason I initiated the future strategy for organic agriculture and this is why I am working in Brussels to get a fast revision of the EU farming regulation with which we can strengthen the trust of the consumers and the organic food economy. Buyers have to be able to rely on one thing: what says organic has to be organic."
