USDA plans to buy 37m pound of apples

Last week the USDA announced its plans to buy around 37m pounds of apples and will also include apple products. The USDA regularly makes agricultural purchases to control market prices of certain sectors and to aid farmers.

The $15 million bonus buy will be for both fresh and processed apple products and should remove approximately 37 million pounds of apples from the market, according to Michigan Processing Apple Growers.
