Spain: Fewer Bronco cabbages planted in Western Andalusia
At the moment, the volume of Bronco cabbage on the Spanish market is not very significant, although "we don't know exactly how large it is, since producers cultivate it when they want and there is no record," comments Jesús Lucas Rodríguez, of the Cooperative Society Virgen del Rocío. This means the current price "not too bad, standing at around 0.50 € per kilo," as was the case last year at this time due to the weather.
Exports are also being affected due to a lack of production, with 95% of the total remaining in the domestic market. Only the UK receives part of it when the supply of pointed cabbage is scarce. To this we must add the fact that growers in the area are no longer planting this product, as they prefer more profitable alternatives.
