China: Nearly 30% of Dongguan lychees split after days of torrential rain

Dongguan had the largest harvest of lychees in twenty years this year, but days of torrential rain have cooled the enthusiasm of fruit farmers. The rate of split fruit in Dongguan lychee plantations is nearly 30%. If the rain continues, then the damage will be even greater.

Farmers state that in some lychee plantations the rate of split fruit has reached 50%. Although the split fruit will reduce the harvest, because this is the largest harvest in twenty years, the overall income will still be reasonable.
