Harvest of Russian apples will reach 800,000 tons

This year the harvest of apples in Russia could be as much as 800,000 tons, according to predictions of the Association of Russian Gardeners. As Association president Igor Mukhanin points out, the spring flowering in the orchards this year went very well and a large yield is expected.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, last year the domestic market could only be supplied up to 24%. The harvest volume was 710,000 tons.

In addition to the growth in production, the structure of the market has changed, said Mukhanin. Previously, about 70% of the crop was used for processing, the remaining 30% being table apples. As described on fruitnews.ru, at the moment, the situation is reversed: 70% are table apples and 30% are for processing.
