French, Spanish and Italian stone fruit more expensive

Prices of French peaches are considerably higher than last year, according to the latest Dashboard issued by the European Commission. In week 30, the price was even 32% higher than the five-year average. Peach prices in week 30 were also significantly higher in Spain (+ 12%) and Italy (+ 26%). Only in Greece, peach prices were lower in week 30 (-13%).



Worldwide consumption of nectarines and peaches is mainly focused in China (69%), followed by the EU (17%) and the United States (3%). Since the Russian boycott, the export of European nectarines to Russia has dropped to zero. In the past year, Belarus has developed into the largest buyer from outside of the EU.
