Expoalimentaria Peru celebrates anniversary

The tenth edition of this annual fair will start tomorrow in Lima, Peru. The Fair will be held from September 26 to the 28, and visitors will be able to meet more than 500 exhibitors from around 20 countries. Different parallel activities, such as an innovation contest, have been programmed for the three days of the event. Last year, the most innovative product was the quinoa box of the Peruvian company Sociedad Agricola Viru.

The president of Adex, Juan Varilias, declared in a press release that the capsicum could be one of the star products of the fair. "It is a highly consumed product in Asia and Europe. A few years ago, the star product was the asparagus, but it has been surpassed by blueberries, mangoes, grapes, and avocados, among other products. Peru is increasingly positioned as the main exporter of capsicum, which grows in very good conditions in our country, but is little consumed in the domestic market."

He also said Expoalimentaria was celebrating its first decade. We have been patient and have continued to promote it, despite the government's lack of receptivity. We can still grow more and conquer more destinations; we want to become the world's food pantry."

Since the fair includes different sectors, visitors can select the companies that belong to the fruit and vegetable sector on the fair's website. Click here to see the list of exhibitors.
