No fewer than 2,355 applications were submitted for this 2018 edition. After an initial selection, made by XTC world innovation, 801 finalists were selected in 3 categories: product sectors, purchaser target sectors, and intermediate products and ingredients and E&T. Of these 801 finalists, 15 were selected, and 3 medals awarded at the end of the SIAL show held in Paris in October.
The podium
The three big winners are from Greece, Italy and the United States. The first is Kefir Namaste, a Greek company that produces vegan, gluten-free, dairy product-free and guaranteed 100% natural fruit-water kefir. This product was selected thanks to its health benefits and taste. The drink comes in different flavors: mango and sea buckthorn berries, peach and baobab, citrus and ginger.
The second place was awarded to the Italian company Rolli Alimentari with its eco-responsible frozen vegetables, packaged in biodegradable paper bags. Guaranteed free of pesticide residue, they are produced with a low environmental impact on air, soil and water. The 100% ecological character of this product was a decisive factor in its victory.
The third place was awarded to the freeze-dried fruit in their BeKids nomadic kid's stick from the American company Better International. It exists in several flavors: watermelon, mango, pineapple and banana.
