Apple prices in Poland up by 94% due to coronavirus crisis

During the coronavirus pandemic, apple prices in Poland have increased by almost 94%. In the period from January to March, Polish apple exports to Belarus and Egypt fell significantly, but those to EU countries increased.

This was told by expert Irina Spaski (Poland) during the international online conference “Apple forecasts.”

“The share of apples in Poland's total fruit production is 80%. Poland is the third largest apple producer in the world and the first in Europe. In 2019, Poland's apple harvest was reduced by a third compared to 2018. Consequently, as of January 1, 2020, the apple stocks were 25% smaller than a year earlier,” said Irina Spaski.

According to her, this season's apple harvest in Poland apples will be comparable to last year's. She also predicts an increase in the export of apples from that new crop to EU countries.
