Uzbekistan is set to significantly increase its agricultural exports to Mongolia, following a presidential decree signed on July 18. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed the government to raise exports of fruit, vegetables, and food products to Mongolia by ten times their current volume.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance cooperation in agriculture and related sectors. Up to $100 million is expected to be attracted for Uzbek-Mongolian joint projects in the agri-food industry.
To facilitate exports, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport has been tasked with organizing air shipments of fresh produce. Some of the exported goods will also be re-exported from Mongolia to other countries.
In addition, the decree mandates the establishment of an Uzbek-Mongolian Trade House by 2026 to promote Uzbek products in Mongolia. Uzbek fruit and vegetable fairs and product displays will also be held in major shopping centers.
As part of the initiative, 10,000 cold-resistant, high-yield fruit tree saplings will be delivered to Mongolia to establish a 15-hectare intensive orchard with drip irrigation. This project will be overseen by Uzbekistan's Agency for Agricultural Development.
