Polish farmers block German border over EU regulations

Polish farmers have initiated protests, obstructing traffic at the German border, in response to EU agricultural policies. Despite the European Union's efforts to amend its regulations, agriculturalists continue their demonstrations.

A Polish police spokesperson reported that on Monday, farmers blocked two German border crossings, utilizing tractors to halt traffic on the A2 highway at the Swiecko and Gubinek crossings. The protest, which began on Sunday, aims to challenge farm imports from non-EU countries and the EU's environmental regulations.

Marcin Maludy, a police spokesperson in Gorzow Wielkopolski, stated, "Traffic in Swiecko and Gubinek is blocked, you cannot travel in either direction," and confirmed the protest's continuation until Wednesday evening. Previously, Polish farmers have protested against Ukrainian imports and the EU's green policies by organizing mass protests in Warsaw and blocking the A2 highway to Germany. The dissatisfaction stems from EU duties on Ukrainian imports post-Russia's invasion, mandatory fallow farmland, and the 2020 European Green Deal, affecting farmers across Europe.
