CASI reports historic results at its assembly for the second consecutive year

The CASI Cooperative held its ordinary general assembly on March 23. One of the points on the agenda was the approval of the annual accounts for the fiscal year 2022-2023. Also worth mentioning was the call to vote on the cooperative's incorporation into the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Tomate La Cañada.

The 22/23 campaign has been historic, not only due to its outcome but also to an increase of more than 22.5% in the cooperative's revenue.

The earnings before tax amount to 8,304,887 euros, which entails an increase of 62.5% compared to the 21/22 campaign, which was already considered historic. The year 2022/23 has been characterized by an overall drop in the production of around 10% due to adverse weather conditions; however, the amount of kilos marketed by the cooperative has only dropped by 2.40%, with a 13.8% increase in sales, which amounted to a total of 276,425,756 €.

After the distribution of the training and sustainability fund, reserve fund, and corporate tax, the cooperative will distribute 5,243,067.15 € in share capital to its members. The cooperative's share capital has increased by 54.9% since the 2019/20 campaign.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, CASI ranks among Spain's top national cooperatives in terms of overall results and billing. Given the figures published, it is expected to continue leading in tomato production, not only nationally but also at a European level.

These figures are considered record-breaking for CASI, which had already reported historic results in the previous campaign.

In general terms, the assembly was carried out without issue, and all points were approved by a large majority, including the cooperative's incorporation into the PGI Tomate La Cañada.

Furthermore, Juan Jesús Lara, General Director of CASI, presented his management report, highlighting the significant investments and projects that the cooperative has launched in recent years. There has been a significant commitment to R&D, with machinery equipped with artificial intelligence, which represents a revolution in the sector, as well as various investments to allow the cooperative to adapt to new market demands.
