The Cameroon minister of agriculture Assimi Menye started a project in Maroua, the center of the Northern part of Cameroon, a few days ago to support the agricultural organisations (PADFA), according to the daily newspaper Cameroon Tribune on Friday 2nd of August.

It is a project of about 12 billion CFA, of which 77.4% is supplied from international funds for agricultural development (FIDA), 14.1% from the Cameroon government and 8.5% from supporters. The project, which runs till 2017, is directed towards the return of the production of rice and onions.

The project is not only directed towards the economic strategy, but also towards the forming of cooperatives of growers and the production chain at various levels. The target is to improve the turnover methods, the storage, the circumstances and the marketing area of the products.
