"Osman Aritan: "Harvest of Turkish Sultana grapes 30/40% lower than last year"

Turkish Sultana grape season started at Purnatur

The Sultana grape season has started at Turkey specialist Purnatur. Purnatur receives the grapes from home supplier Sarilar, a leading production company in Turkey in the area of stone fruit, Santa Maria pears, grapes, figs, quinces and pomegranates. Sarilar packages the fruit itself, so that the products end up at the buyers in Europe through the shortest logistics routes. Purnatur exclusively provides the sales in Europe.

Osman Aritan of Purnatur expects a stable grape season. According to the import the market is reasonable good at the moment. What is striking is that the harvest of the Sultana grapes in Turkey is around 30/40% lower than last year. According to Osman there is always a specific demand for Sultana grapes due to the good brix and flavour. Purnatur tries to tempt the Dutch retailers to the Turkish Sultana grapes with promotions. Since the beginning of this year the grapes are also packaged under the brand "ZonZoet" in punnet of 1kg.

In short term there will also be figs, quinces and pomegranates available in consumer packaging.
