despite new outbreaks

AU: Fruit fly situation going in right direction

More fruit fly outbreaks are being declared in north west Victoria.

The Department of Primary Industries has identified five new outbreaks in the Swan Hill area in the past three weeks.

The DPI's Gary D'Arcy says two thirds of the 33 outbreaks declared last year have been eradicated.

"In the ideal situation we wouldn't detect any outbreaks, unfortunately we are but from an overall perspective it appears it is going in the right direction."
