Pineapple prices rise in Kochi due to heat and drought

In Ernakulam, the retail market has witnessed a significant increase in pineapple prices, currently ranging between Rs 90-110 per kg. This surge is attributed to a decrease in production during the dry season and a rise in market demand. The Pineapple Growers Association has reported current rates of Rs 65 for ripe pineapples, Rs 60 for green ones, and Rs 62 for special green varieties, marking an increase of Rs 12 from the previous year. If the prevailing conditions continue, an escalation in prices is expected.
