MSC inaugurates new cold storage facility in Durban

Mediterranean Shipping Company SA (MSC) has announced the opening of a new cold storage facility in Cator Manor, Durban, marking a significant R350 million investment in the logistics sector. Located at 8 121005 Street, near Harry Gwala Rd, Chesterville, the facility boasts a capacity of 10,000 pallets, aimed at bolstering the cold logistics market and ensuring the integrity of temperature-sensitive goods during transit. This development is a strategic move by MSC to enhance supply chain reliability for perishable goods, facilitating their global trade.

South African exporters are expected to gain from this logistics solution, which promises seamless sea transport of perishable products to international markets. Captain Salvatore Sarno, Chairman of MSC South Africa, highlighted the facility's role in supporting the South African economy, job creation, and economic growth. The inauguration, scheduled for March 7, 2024, will gather stakeholders, government officials, and industry leaders to celebrate this achievement and its anticipated contribution to the local economy and community.
