Brazil is projected to export large amounts of fruit annually within the next three to four years, according to Guilherme Coelho, president of the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivatives Exporters (Abrafrutas).
The growth in global fruit demand, including recent market openings in India for avocado, tangerine, and lime, and upcoming access for grapes in China, underscores the potential for Brazilian fruit exports. Currently, 70% of Brazil's fruit exports are directed to the European Union. The São Francisco Valley, particularly the Petrolina (PE)/Juazeiro (BA) hub, plays a significant role in this export activity, focusing on grapes and mangoes.
