Since the beginning of 2024, the phytosanitary quarantine control officials of the Federal Service Rosselkhoznadzor in the Transbaikal region have monitored 30,070 tons of citrus fruits, including pomelo—9,900 tons, mandarins—14,700 tons, lemons—3,600 tons, oranges—1,800 tons, and grapefruits—23 tons, imported from China.
Rosselkhoznadzor specialists have noted a significant increase in the volumes of imported citrus fruits from China. In compared to the previous year, the import of fresh lemons has increased by 69 times (52 tons were monitored during the same period in 2023), and fresh mandarins have increased by 11 times (1,400 tons were imported in the first 4 months of 2023).
Citrus shipments with high phytosanitary risks were accompanied by certificates meeting strict quarantine standards for fresh fruits.
The entire volume of citrus fruits was released for sale after the completion of the phytosanitary quarantine control procedure.
