The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment in Cyprus has launched "e-Kofini," an agricultural produce price observatory, available on the Agriculture Department's website. The platform, updated twice-weekly, provides average selling prices for basic locally produced fruits and vegetables at both the producer and retail levels, aiming to highlight pricing disparities.
Data is collected from recognized Fruit and Vegetable Producer Groups and Organizations, as well as from supermarkets on a national scale. The observatory covers a range of produce including tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis, and various fruits like bananas and strawberries. "e-Kofini" seeks to foster fairer conditions within the supply chain by enhancing market transparency for consumers and supporting producers' interests in pricing. The initiative reflects the Ministry's commitment to maintaining dialogue with stakeholders and ensuring the availability of quality products at equitable prices.
