China has indicated its desire to commence mango imports from Bangladesh within the current year. To facilitate this, a delegation of experts is planning to visit Bangladesh to inspect mango orchards and production processes. This visit, expected to occur in early June, will play a critical role in the decision-making process regarding the entry of Bangladeshi mangoes into the Chinese market.
The outcome of the visit will inform the Chinese customs authority's clearance for these imports. During a meeting with Bangladesh's Agriculture Minister Md Abdus Shahid, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, conveyed this interest. The meeting took place at the secretariat in Dhaka, as reported by the agriculture ministry. In response, Minister Shahid urged China to assist Bangladesh in acquiring modern agricultural machinery.
