Official data shows that in 2023 Kyrgyzstan exported 42,200 tons of potatoes to Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.
Prices fluctuated throughout the year, with potatoes priced at 0.24 euros in April, 0.31 euros in May, 0.46 euros in June, 0.31 euros in September, 0.26 euros in October, and 0.27 euros in November.
In contrast, in 2022, prices were 0.26 euros in April, 0.36 euros in May, and 0.41 euros in June.
This year, the average wholesale price for potatoes in March is 0.11 euros, while market prices range from 0.18 to 0.26 euros.
Efforts are underway to increase exports to Uzbekistan, also negotiations are ongoing for a large potato shipment to China.
The Ministry denies claims raised by lawmaker Akylbek Tumenbayev regarding unsold potatoes being wasted or fed to animals.
