The government of Arunachal Pradesh has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) to facilitate the supply of local fruits and vegetables to ITBP units throughout the state. This collaboration is part of the Vibrant Village Scheme (VVS), aiming at economic enhancement and border security improvement in Arunachal Pradesh.
The MoU seeks to bolster the VVS, promote reverse migration, and support the livelihoods of local farmers. The agreement, signed by Akun Sabharwal, Inspector General of ITBP, and Okit Palling, CEO of Arunachal Pradesh Agricultural Marketing Board (APAMB), ensures that ITBP will procure fruits and vegetables directly from villages participating in the VVS through local cooperatives. This initiative is expected to not only strengthen the local economy and support sustainable livelihoods but also to enhance the security along Arunachal Pradesh's international borders by fostering better economic opportunities and encouraging reverse migration. Furthermore, it aims to increase interaction between the ITBP personnel and local communities, enhancing social cohesion and security in these remote areas.
