U.S. apple storage down three percent compared to December 2023

According to a monthly survey, the total number of apples in storage on December 1, 2024, was 168 million bushels, three percent less than last December's total of 173 million bushels and 10 percent more than the five-year average for that date.

Fresh apple holdings this December totaled 122 million bushels, two percent less than the inventories reported for last December. Processing holdings totaled 46 million bushels, four percent less than last year on December 1.

This report captures more than 95 percent of the national storage capacity.
