Some Irish supermarkets might be forced to shift to rationing

According to Dr Elaine McGoff, Ireland ‘is playing a risky game’ when it comes to the country’s food security. The Taisce’s natural environmental officer made the comment following a stark warning from global food experts about how agri-food giants are hampering efforts to tackle growing food insecurity.

Supermarkets across the country are already warning customers about how poor weather is impacting the supply of tomatoes, salads and peppers, with some rationing produce. But the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems believe food security and hunger will worsen unless corporate influence in the sector is confronted.
