The early navel season will start next week for Australian citrus grower and exporter Nutrano.
"On the whole it appears as if this season will see us with a balanced average crop," said Nutrano's Executive General Manager Farming Operations Tania Chapman.
"Fruit size may be slightly smaller across Southern states due to slightly late flowering - but fruit is still growing and sizing up so we may see us with a harvest approximately 2 weeks later than usual."
After the floods the growing season has enjoyed fairly dry conditions this has minimised pest pressures and temperatures have sat pretty much at the long term average with no prolonged hot summer.
"Demand both domestically and in major export markets seems to be high at this stage," according to Tania. "Australia is fortunate to have access to all major export markets including Japan, Vietnam, Korea, US, Canada, Thailand, Philippines and China - with freight rates decreasing substantially but certainly not to pre covid rates. We look forward to being able to supply all of our markets with amazing flavour-filled Australian citrus."
