Banana prices - Week 48

Banana prices shift: Colombia drops 6%, Panama rises 16%, Guatemala down 15%

This week's analysis of banana prices across various countries highlights notable trends when comparing current averages with the previous week's averages. These trends provide valuable insights into market dynamics, including supply chain variations and regional demand fluctuations.

In Columbia, a 6% decrease in banana prices was observed from last week's average of 0.75 to this week's 0.70. This significant drop may reflect improved supply conditions or reduced transportation costs, providing some relief to buyers. Panama reported a big price increase of 16%, with 0.85 last week, against this week's 0.71.

Stability was also evident in some countries, where the average price of bananas remained unchanged. This consistency reflects balanced supply-demand dynamics in these areas, potentially unaffected by seasonal or external disruptions. However, Guatamala experienced a steep price decline of 15%, raising concerns about potential oversupply or economic factors influencing buyer behavior.
