Tripura explores jackfruit wine production

The Tripura government is considering producing wine from the state's abundant jackfruit to enhance its horticulture sector and increase farmers' incomes. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced the initiative during a review meeting on November 18, highlighting jackfruit's sugar content as ideal for winemaking. Samples have been sent to Imphal Agriculture University for analysis.

Tripura also aims for self-reliance in potato seed production by 2027-28, utilizing innovative methods like True Potato Seed (TPS) and Apical Rooted Cutting (ARC), which have significantly increased yields. Additionally, the government is promoting pineapple cultivation and planning an Orange Festival in Agartala to celebrate its horticultural potential.
