The market for Tahiti lime in Brazil is experiencing a downturn in prices, as reported by researchers from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at Esalq/USP. Despite the impact of rainfall on harvesting activities, there has been a slight increase in the size of the fruit, though it remains below typical standards.
Over the current week, from Monday to Thursday, the price for a 27.2-kilo box of Tahiti lime was recorded at R$48.36 (approximately USD 9.26), marking a decrease of 44.24% from the previous week's average and a 52.36% reduction from the same period last month.
Similarly, the market for table oranges is witnessing a decline in prices. The current week's rate stands at R$113.32 (around USD 21.71) per 40.8-kilo box, showing a 5.66% fall from last week. According to Cepea researchers, while the size of the fruit has seen some improvement, the availability of oranges in the market continues to be constrained.
