Kenyan farmers cultivating onions on a large scale will soon be exporting to Iran. In a new deal signed between Kenya and Iran 10,000 tons of onion will be exported per month. The monthly deal worth around $6 million (in conjunction with other articles) was signed by Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua and Iranian Ambassador Jafar Barmaki on March 8.
Both parties claimed it will maximize market opportunities for farmers and traders. The deal is significant to the country's economy, and there is hope that the Iran House of Innovation and Technology Center's initiative will aid Kenyan startups.
