Former Tanzanian PM Mizengo Pinda is pleading for a higher intake of fruits and vegetables, to lower the risks of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Many of these NCDs are associated with a sedentary lifestyle, but according to Pinda, inadequate fruit and vegetable consumption could also exacerbate the risks.
According to the former PM, fruit and vegetable consumption may reduce the risk of NCDs through the increased availability of various nutrients and their ability to modulate associated risk factors. He also emphasized the role of community development officers in promoting healthy diets in the country.
