In a significant advancement for Kenya's agriculture, a Ksh 302 million (€1.9 mln) investment has been announced, aimed at enhancing the avocado value chain. This investment, a collaborative effort involving the British High Commission and the Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) program, will facilitate the creation of a modern packing facility for avocado and passion fruit, alongside an initiative into edible oil production. The project, led by PWC, will be operational in Eldoret within six months, signifying a major leap forward for local avocado cultivators by providing them with vital seedlings and support.
The involvement of key partners such as the British High Commission, with Dr. Dominic Biwott playing a crucial role, SUED, and PWC, highlights the strong partnerships underpinning this venture. Their collective visit with the investor underscores the commitment to fostering economic and agricultural advancement in the region.
