Vietnamese lychees are in demand among Thai consumers

On June 21, a program to promote Vietnamese lychees among Thai consumers was launched at the Centralworld shopping centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

Speaking at the event, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung expressed his pleasure with the promotion of high-quality Vietnamese lychees in Thailand. He added that he believes the quality of Vietnamese products will satisfy the demands of Thai consumers.

Jariya Chirathivat, Deputy Director General for Business Development and Operations of Central Group, stated that the Tops supermarket chain, a subsidiary of Central Retail Corporation, organized this event to promote Vietnamese lychees. The event, the seventh of its kind, is being held from mid-June to early July in 32 Tops Food Hall and Tops Market stores across Thailand.

According to Paul Le, Vice Chairman of Central Retail Group in Vietnam, thanks to increasingly sophisticated cold storage and packaging management, Vietnamese lychees will soon be exported to many countries around the world. Since 2017, Central Retail has successfully exported fresh Vietnamese lychees to Thailand. Thai residents eagerly anticipate the Vietnamese lychee season to enjoy the highest quality lychees in the world.

Le Huu Phuc, Trade Counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, said that in addition to lychees, the trade office will closely cooperate with Thai businesses to bring more Vietnamese delicacies to Thailand, such as avocados, rambutans, passion fruits, and others.

Lychees are successfully exported to many "discerning" markets, including the EU, Australia, Japan, the USA, and Canada.
