Brazilian limes volumes are relatively low. "There are mostly small sizes and few thick sizes (36/42/48). The nice weather and the holiday season are stimulating demand, so the market price is again above average. Also, the quality is at a good level," says Marcel van Rooijen of Trofi.
"Peru is now off-season and that production will not return to normal levels until the end of September. From Mexico, given the 'hot' market in America, there is no need to ship to the EU unless the importer pays fat money upfront, hence volumes from Mexico are at a low level. All in all, good demand and low volume creates an excellent market for Brazilian limes."
