Recent rainfall across Bangladesh influences vegetable prices

Recent rainfall across Bangladesh, including Dhaka, has influenced the vegetable market, with prices ranging from 80 to 100 taka per kg, marking an increase of 10 to 20 taka from the previous week. Additionally, green chillis have reached a price range of 320 to 350 taka per kg. Various vegetables such as carrots, taro stem roots, and spiny gourd are being sold at 100 taka per kg. Other vegetables like bitter gourd are priced at 120 taka per kg, while pointed gourd, ribbed gourd, sponge gourd, and gourd stand at 60 taka per kg.

Cucumbers, string beans, and round eggplant also reflect a heightened price of 100 to 120 taka per kg. Furthermore, lady's finger and arum lobe are available at 120 and 80 taka per kg, respectively, with papaya at 50 taka per kg, sweet pumpkin at 40 taka per kg, and green chillies ranging from 320 to 350 taka per kg.

The continuous rainfall has disrupted vegetable production, leading to a decreased supply and an increase in prices. Consumers express concerns over the escalating prices, indicating the impact of weather conditions on market dynamics.
