All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association

APFVEA reports that Pakistan may not achieve its mango export target this year

The All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association (APFVEA) has reported that Pakistan may not achieve its mango export target of 100,000 tons this year due to climate change adversely affecting production. Despite being the world's fourth-largest producer of mangoes, the country has seen a decline in production for the third consecutive year, with a notable decrease in Punjab and Sindh regions.

APFVEA Chairman Muhammad Shehzad Sheikh highlighted the impact of climate change on mango orchards, leading to a significant reduction in export-quality mangoes. The association has adjusted this year's target following last year's shortfall, where only 100,000 tons were exported against a target of 125,000 tons.

Sheikh also expressed concerns over the challenges posed by climate change, including altered disease patterns and the need for research-based solutions to mitigate these effects.
