In a firm commitment to the modernization and development of the cooperative model, the San Alfonso Cooperative completed its merger with Grupo Clasol on July 1. The move is bringing 900 cooperative families and the Claramonte family together and is a milestone in the history of the agricultural sector.
"A new chapter in modern agriculture"
"The merger of Grupo Clasol and San Alfonso represents a significant step towards the modernization of the cooperative sector, which has been traditionally characterized by its autonomous and locally based structure," say the two entities.
"With this integration, we are strengthening our position as a big player in the fruit and vegetable market, covering all links in the supply chain, from cultivation to marketing and transport," says César Claramonte, CEO of Grupo Clasol.
2,500 hectares of crops and 240 million euros to be invoiced in the financial year 24/25
Following the merger, Grupo Clasol will have six warehouses, a logistics center, its own fleet of trucks, 2,500 hectares of crops and more than 2,500 employees. The turnover forecast for the financial year 24/25 is 240 million euros.
The group's three-year business plan includes an investment of 40 million euros for the creation of new corporate headquarters and the modernization of two processing plants. These efforts aim for the turnover to exceed 300 million euros by 2026/2027, which underlines the growth ambitions of Grupo Clasol.
César Claramonte says: "Despite the challenges inherent in operational change, the organization is facing them with great success. We are ready to lead the agricultural sector with a consolidated vision, combined resources and broad supply chain coverage. It is thus a significant milestone for the industry."
The integration of San Alfonso is strengthening Grupo Clasol's operational capacity and underlines the importance of modernization in cooperatives, showing that privatization and strategic collaboration can drive growth and efficiency in the agricultural sector.
