Italy-focused exporter Fris-Co incorporated into the Dole group

Venlo-based Fris-Co Fruit & Vegetables has joined the Dole group. The Venlo-based exporter focused entirely on sales to Italian customers, consisting of retailers, wholesalers, foodservice and slicers, for the past 30 years. Now owner Sandra Bogaard has sold the business to the Dole group, which also includes Frankort&Koning and Nedalpac, as well as Haluco.

Fris-Co specialises in exporting Dutch fruit and vegetables with tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, chicory and peppers as its main products. This is complemented by specialties and overseas fruit. Its customers are spread all over Italy, from the north to the far south.

In a brief comment, commercial director Leon van den Hombergh of Frankort&Koning confirmed Fris-Co's entry into the group. He says that Fris-Co will continue to operate independently, that independence is paramount and its identity will be preserved. "Where possible, we will look for synergy to use the strength of the Dole network to further improve service and quality."
