Joan Mir, CEO of Anecoop, receives the Order of Agrarian Merit

Yesterday, Luis Planas, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food bestowed upon Joan Mir Piqueras, the general director of the Spanish agri-food cooperative Anecoop, the Order of Agricultural Merit. This recognition aims to reward people who have provided eminent services or outstanding performance in favor of the agricultural, fisheries, and food sectors.

Born in 1958 in Mislata (Valencia), Joan Mir holds a PhD in Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Valencia where he served as Professor of International Marketing for 23 years.

After working for companies such as Grupo Iber, Grupo Audit, and the Valencian Export Institute (IVEX) of the Generalitat Valenciana, he joined Anecoop's management team in 1997. He worked as Director of Marketing and Strategy, then as Deputy General Manager, and in October 2010, became the company's general manager.

"Anecoop is a company of people for people. Thus, this recognition corresponds to the more than 21,000 farmers associated with Anecoop, the more than 20,000 warehouse and field workers, and the more than 600 professionals in Spain and abroad who, day after day, help our products reach thousands of consumers in nearly 70 countries through the best distribution chains. I thank you all for your collaboration," Mir stated.

Together with his team, Mir has contributed to strengthening the Anecoop Group, led the expansion of the facilities of Anecoop France and Anecoop Polska, and the opening of Anecoop Asia, Solagora, Anecoop Valle del Ebro, and the Anecwines Corporation in the US.

Mir is a firm defender of the "union makes strength" motto and, in clear harmony with the times, has successfully promoted different integration projects between cooperatives and Anecoop member companies to support their growth and future. This benefits thousands of farmers and their families, the backbone of rural areas, an engine of the economy and employment.

He has also participated in numerous trade missions organized by the European Union and supported the launch of innovative communication campaigns aimed at consumers, sensitizing society about the essential role of agriculture in the economy and the sustainability of the countryside. In 2020, he promoted the entry of Anecoop into the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact, giving an account of the entity's commitment to complying with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Joan Mir also belongs to the Board of Directors of Agriculture and Conservation, Agriconsa, and is a member of the Banco de Crédito Cooperativo'sBoard of Directors, where he chairs the Strategy Committee.
